What do you plan on doing for fun when you retire from the service? What is the one thing you promised yourself?

So what is the one thing you promised yourself you would do the day you got out of the Military that you still plan on doing. Oh and please list two retirement plans first what would you do if money was no longer an issue and you could actually live off your retirement and two what is your dream job after the military?

SSG Ike Phelan I served four years, and my day one goal was to swim across the Colorado River and swim back across. I accomplished my goal, but had a good walk back to my car when I swam back across. My long term goals were to find a good job, obtain a degree, and work for the Space Program. I found a job as an operator at a chemical plant while I worked on my degree. Five and a half years later, I had my degree, and started a 33 year career on the Spaces Shuttle Program. This was my dream job that called for dedication and commitment. Doing something I believed in, was more important than money in my career choice.

Well when I got out of Active Duty, I kept my hair down and I didn't make my bed for about a week.

Now that I'm reserve hopefully going back Active, I'm probably going to put everything into a shadow box and give it to my son for his either 18th or 20th birthday (which ever comes after I retire). That way if he wants to join the Navy, he'll have a good idea of how it will be based on what his mom has done.

I promised myself that I would get another bike and ride across the United States. It took a few years to get the kids through school, out of the house and on there own. Since that time I take two weeks every summer and ride some place. I've ridden in all but 3 states and in 9 Canadian Providences and still riding.

I would love to build an entire LEGO village in my basement................except I don't have a basement and my wife gives me that "look" every time I bring that project up.
