The 1980's was a remarkable decade in the History of our Country. It had a strong influence on fashion, music, dance, politics, and television. Some of the best music and television shows we still watch to this day. The Politics during the 1980's still has an effect on us today. What do you miss the most about the 1980's? Is truly the best decade we ever had?

The pop culture was something because it is still recycled today in everything from movies to music. Heck, MTV was new and actually played music.

The 80s was a PC free culture for the most part. You can't have an open and honest discussion today because people will be more concerned about "how" their words will be misinterpreted vs. the content of what they are saying.

Two nightclubs in Georgetown, Washington, DC in the 1980's. I was a young Infantryman in the Old Guard at Fort Myer. The Bayou was, perhaps, the best small music venue of all time. The owner had his company Cellar Door Productions that had exclusive booking rights for the Capitol Center and DAR Constitution Hall. His rule was that all all bands playing those big venues had to play a night at the Bayou. We could frequently get tickets through the USO. Many nights, they had up and coming bands. Sometimes they had well known musicians on an acoustic tour.

A nightclub called called Annie's (Annie Oakley's) at the corner of Wisconsin & M, was one of the hottest spots back then. It drew a mixed crowd of young military, university students (Georgetown & George Washington University), and young single professionals (mostly women). It offered certain special opportunities for young people.

The 1980's were a great time in my life and, perhaps, my best decade so far, but I like to believe that the best is yet to come.

Best decade? I'm not sure. But I graduated high school, joined the Navy, had a great son and moved to the Rockies. NASA was kicking butt, Star Wars movies were still good, MacGyver was my hero. I enjoyed the 80's!!

SPC Andrew Griffin Saturday morning cartoons, Saturday afternoon cartoons, MTV with actual MUSIC, music with ACTUAL MUSIC, Bo Jackson, Wayne Gretzky, Hershel Walker, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Commando, Rambo, The A-Team, Air Wolf, Playing outside, free speech without the fear of being branded by some pussy who is offended by it, Yep pretty much to me, born in the mid 70's the 80's were the best decade ever.

Oh My! I don't know if I would want to repeat that ride but the end results were well worth it. Probably would be minus a few mental scars maybe I would have some different ones but something I won't forget. Being Disco King of the Floor when I could still dance. Getting Married and having my 2 hoodlums that have given me 5 more. Working on the Governments 2 most sensitive projects Project Timberline and Project Classic Wizard. Being Involved in Achile Lauro/Prairie Fire/El Ddorado Canyon. Handling the Messages for the Debrief of Sgt Clayton Lonetree and Iran-Contra. Being Master at Arms to Chief of Staff, Commander Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. Hell of a Ride and I was hanging on for Dear Life.
