Our Bug out bags were an inspectable item for all three bags. They were seasonal and were inspected a minimum of once every 30 days to ensure all items were packed according to list. The one bag we had leeway on was our aircraft carry on bag. In that I always had a good book, poncho liner, wet wipes, mini shaving /1st aid kit, mini pillow, mini flashlight, alarm clock, change of underwire and 3 pair of socks, a note book and a few extra pens. On me or around me I have a personal "get home kit" which is a small 24 hour kit with a 45acp, first aid kit, fire kit, compass, a knife or two, mylar blanket, whistle, mirror, and energy food and individual water containers.
Step two (in auto or office depending where I'll be) is a back pack, one per person with 72 hours supplies of food meds and larger water containers, water filters and purifiers, flares, 5.56mm ammo, bigger first aid kit, hygiene kit, mess kits, woobies, chem lights, entrenching tool, battery lights, personal chargers, back up lap top, rope and 550 cord, deck of cards, tomahawk, change of clothes.
Third tier is a portable SIP kit, 28 days supplies and fuel. I figure if I need more than 28 days then fit has really hit the shan and I need to start working on major resources management.
But I'm fairly rural, 20 min drive to the nearest store, so around here this stuff is pretty common.
I'm curious what urban folks carry?
