I'm most proud of my 3 wonderful kids! All three have taken life by the horns and are working hard to make their way. All three moved out by the time they were 19. They didn't expect help, though i was ready to if needed nor did they ask for it. Except i went with my youngest to the USMC recruiting office, to make sure he got something he wanted. Of course i offered them advice from time to time. :)

I am proud of my victory over alcohol and substance abuse and my ongoing recovery. My marriage was saved and our family is closers than ever!

Seems small, but this stands out in my mind: As a new 2LT, I was called by the cops to a house in the Philippines. All the man's possessions had been destroyed by his wife. All of it. Probably deserved it for fooling around on her. Then I saw all his scrapbooks, where his new Filipina wife had used a cigarette butt on all the photographs to burn out the face of his little child from his first marriage. His only memories of his boy were gone. My God. He might kill her for that. I said to the MP, "Find him and arrest him. We need to prevent a murder tonight." After weeks of AA and counseling, he (looking very healthy and his nose was no longer red) and his wife presented me with cookies and thanked me for saving their marriage. They came by several times in the next few months to give me cookies. The military provided many moments to do good things. So did parenthood.

Personal life: 3 kids grown up to be educated, employed, successful adults
Active Duty: 3000 flying hours with no aircraft mishaps; number of takeoff and landings are equal
