Resources wasted. Money that could have been better used elsewhere for the military. <br /><br />Afghanistan really had not a lot to do with 9/11. Let&#39;s be realistic. Once bin Laden popped smoke to Afghanistan we should have left. Once he was killed, we definitely should have left. <br /><br />If Afghanistan wants their country back from the Taliban, they can take it back. We just did nothing but plop ourselves into the middle of a civil war there and in Iraq - and even bigger clusterf*. <br /><br />In fact, our invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan did nothing but create a terrorist safe haven. ISIS only exists because of our invasion into Iraq. Literally is how ISIS formed...<br /><br />There&#39;s no reason for us to be in Afghanistan. None. Now you have a second generation over there? People are deploying WITH their kids? There&#39;s no good reason to be there or Iraq. We need to completely withdrawal. No residual forces even. None. <br /><br />I&#39;m sorry but not sorry I stopped drinking the Koolaid years ago. It&#39;s been nothing but a waste.

We aren’t because of Vietnam. The press started to have “boots on the ground” back then and that has only increased since. We’re trying to be friends and nation builders while we’re also trying to fight a war. That’s not sustainable. <br /><br />If you want to win a war you have to be all in on the war part. Then after, you can go in, shake hands, make your apologies, and start rebuilding.

The previous two administrations said they would withdraw from Afghanistan as well. <br /><br />We had a withdrawal day of May 1st and now it’s delayed while people celebrate like we didn’t already have a date set. <br /><br />I am very skeptical we will see a withdrawal from Afghanistan this year

Remember Japan said they would die to the last, and we obliged them from the safe haven of the air and nuking them? Then they said, oh wait, we were speaking figuratively. <br /><br />Afghanistan is just a military industrial complex abyss we continue to throw blood and money into. <br /><br />If President Biden is the one to get us out and Trump was not, then all I have to say to that is WTF???<br /><br />At the end of the day, if we left then, now or tomorrow the whole shit hole is going right back to what it was as wild frontier for radical terrorist training. So, the question is, are our resources better served fighting terrorism without that costly base of operations in the heart of it?<br /><br />Lord knows we could benefit greatly from reallocating our strategic resources for the longer game with China. I think this is going to be the bigger deciding factor. There are too many greed interests in keeping Afghanistan the status quo, but we have probably hit a resource limit to our overseas defense, and the same greed interests might be swayed into moving out of AFG of those dollars are still spent elsewhere shoring up the China countermeasure.
