SSG Brian MacBain 481085

I am a strong believer about OPSEC. I do not think (in my humble opinion) security clearance be posted on RP. I am not sure if RP checks peoples records to see if they actually served in the military and that also bring to mind could there could be people on here (RP) that has no military service and is looking for people to exploit? COL Roger Lintz gave me a great idea to post this subject on here to get a better understanding.

He had mentioned that stating clearances on resumes and cover letter and I do agree with that. I did it as well for getting a job where you need the clearance. But do we really need to post it online such as RP where there are some people does not need to know? What do you all think about posting your security clearance on RP? 2015-02-17T10:22:19-05:00 SSG Brian MacBain 481085

I am a strong believer about OPSEC. I don't know what it adds to our profiles - nothing really, unless it ties in with job searches - but I think we're okay saying we have a clearance and even the level, here on RallyPoint.

If there's ever an approach of any kind related to your security clearance - online, in person, whatever - report it to a counterintelligence covering agent/unit (the FBI in the case of veterans and retirees). Just because someone has a clearance, it doesn't necessarily mean they have access to secret or higher security information. As most of us know, you still have to give the need to know in order to receive it. This is a selling point for some employers, since they won't have to invest additional money getting you a clearance if you already have one. From what I've been told, it's also cheaper for companies to pay for a re-investigation vs. an initial clearance investigation, or an investigation if your clearance has expired.
