I would like to see the specific goals that Dr. Carson has. I would like to see HHS pared down to the size it was during the Reagan or Carter years. If Dr. Carson is talking about shuttering the VA administrative side and opening up lines of communication in the firewall which separates the Treatment and Evaluation sides so that medical doctors could communicate better about patients that would be good.

I agree. Since it inception in the 1930s, the VA has been little more than a means of funneling huge amounts of tax payer dollars into political graft and corruption. If you didn't know, the VAs precursor, the Veterans Bureau was abolished after just nine years because of scandal, graft, and curruption. Since then, no fewer than four VA Administrators have been forced to resign for incompetence and during its short history it has averaged a major congressional investigation or out and out reform commision every seven years. Do away with the VA and give Veterans insurance so they can go to civilian hospitals.

The more he talks the more he sounds like the guy with the Squirrel top. How many hospitals has he actually run? None that I am aware. Sitting on a board, is not the same as calling the shots.

I think I commented already in another thread about this but in my opinion what Dr. Carson proposes is just reorganizing the VA under some other government agency and all that will do is shift the problem to a new agency who will inherit the same bunch of slackers that are currently in the VA. Yes there are some great people working at the VA but the majority of them are slackers.
Fix the problem instead of shuffling the deck and hoping for better cards.
