What do others think about the idea of awarding College credit for attendance at the SM Academy and other NCOES Schools?

I'm retired now but throughout my military career I recall often hearing fellow NCOs question what could be done to help professionalize the NCO Corps. I think one thing that would further this is to award college credit and maybe even two years of college fot those who attend and success fully complete the Sergeant Majors Academy. I know for my self when I did the non resident Course I probably put more time and effort in completing the modules and the school than I did when I was in a civilian graduate school program. I believe Officers are awarded a Graduate degree for completing Command and General Staff. Any thoughts??

Some branches already do this. I have 169 college credits sitting on my joint transcript and if I majored in operations management instead of homeland security. I would be have taken 10 class instead of 18 for my baccalaureates. The school I went to, you can transfer up to 90 credits only the rest must be taken there. That 169 credits counts both the technical and leadership courses I went through and consist of mostly upper level courses.

It's a good idea. The Air Force created the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and got it accredited by college accreditation authorities in the 1980s. CCAF awards college credit for all types of Air Force training leading to an Associate Degree. Air Force leadership schools qualify for CCAF credits that then are recognized by other higher education institutions. Also, I received graduate credit for Air Command and Staff College and Air War College from Webster University.
I'm surprised the Army doesn't have a "community college of the Army" type of institution. TRADOC should have set it up a long time ago?

CSM Thomas McGarry I think that is a wonderful idea. the Air Force gives college credits for our technical schools. why not do the same for leadership schools? it might give the service member an additional incentive to attend.
