Never had a CAC card. Reserve ID cards (red) and retired IDs (blue grey) always have INDEF. Green cards (Title 10 AD) are INDEF. Those for AUS Reserve Officers have an expiration date when issued for a short period of AD, more than 30 days, such as going to a school say OAC. The card then has the date the course ends.
