The most effective part of the training was the actual exercise, when we wrote the three good things that happened to us that week. We started in small mixed groups (officers and enlisted) and shared what we wrote down, then we had the opportunity to share with the whole group. It was very effective, not only in my personal opinion, but the class as a whole. During the AAR, it was mentioned that we would like to sustain the incorporation of the exercise. Some additions to the training we would like to see were as follows: Training that was specifically focused towards leaders that not only help them hunt the good things in themselves, but the good things in their subordinates. Another addition we came up with was making a mandatory follow up class 7 days later, as the exercise suggests so we can see the technique in action. While deployed recently, I spoke to the Jr. Enlisted, broken into 2 groups, previously non deployers, and multiple deployments and in the time allotted, I encouraged them to speak up mainly, because none of them were my Soldier and two it allowed them to get anything off of their chest. Then I challenged them to find one thing each day and tell me what that one thing was.. Then when I would come off of missions, I would usually bump into one or two and they would have at least 3-4 things. Of all of the schools I have attended, I honestly can say that one was the one that opened my eyes on how to speak and listen to others.

V/r SFC Grandon
SFC Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 30 Oct 2013 20:54:57 -0400 2013-10-30T20:54:57-04:00 Response by CW2 Joseph Evans made Oct 30 at 2013 9:15 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-did-you-learn-from-hunting-the-good-stuff-today?n=2162&urlhash=2162

Sir,
I've been using this to keep me focused and on target for over two years now.
