AR 670-1 19-17 2c, "When echelons below company level (such as teams or squads) deploy, members of these units will wear the SSI of the lowest echelon deployed Army unit (company or higher) in the deployed chain of command". <br />I have been told since we have a CPT as a commander we are a company sized element and I have been told we are company sized element due to our DoDAAC. What is the correct answer and what are the references? <br />P.S. I don't mind wearing either SSI, mostly just looking for the right answer here. What defines a company size element in the Army?2018-10-18T12:24:55-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4055924<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am deployed in a Finance Detachment of 25 soldiers. I was deployed in 2010 as part of a Preventive Medicine Detachment which consisted of 13 people. We had our own UIC, our own DoDaaC. We were authorized to wear either our unit patch as our SSI-FWTS or our next higher up, the 261st MMB. Our choosing.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 12:31 PM2018-10-18T12:31:40-04:002018-10-18T12:31:40-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4056285<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I can't answer your question, I deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 with a liason team, I had a LTC for a commander, we had a Mjr, Lt and CWO3, plus 7 NCO's but our paper work had us wear the patch of the command we reported to. I think the called it the leaning $h!t house, they were out of Bragg.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 2:21 PM2018-10-18T14:21:31-04:002018-10-18T14:21:31-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4056631<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>When I was with the infantry with the 82nd. it was 210 men, and the 82nd had less then that in a MP company.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 5:05 PM2018-10-18T17:05:11-04:002018-10-18T17:05:11-04:00LTC John Griscom4056977<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The rank of the commander doesn't matter. It should give you an idea of what your next higher echelon is. You can search for it by UIC on FMSweb.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 18 at 2018 10:39 PM2018-10-18T22:39:43-04:002018-10-18T22:39:43-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4057444<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Do what your Commander tells you to and you’ll usually be fine.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 19 at 2018 12:24 AM2018-10-19T00:24:28-04:002018-10-19T00:24:28-04:00COL Private RallyPoint Member4061340<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>For HR and finance they are formed into detachments that fall under a company commander. The actual company commander (Major) with assumption of command orders remains the only company commander. Unless you are deployed with him you are just a subordinate Detachment Derivative UIC.Response by COL Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 20 at 2018 6:23 PM2018-10-20T18:23:53-04:002018-10-20T18:23:53-04:002018-10-18T12:24:55-04:00
