What creature comforts are in your rucksack? I keep things light and down to the bare bones minimum. However, I carry with me one paperback book, and some family pictures.

I used to keep a small pack of baby wipes, a full roll of toilet paper in a plastic bag, and a few trash bags.

Along with whatever I was told I needed, I usually have a roll of 100mph tape, 550 cord, a change of uniform and more spare socks, underwear and tshirts than I could possibly use. I like being dry. I've never regretted having an extra change of clothes.

Two rolls of toilet paper. One for my personal use. The other for trading for something that I want (or need). It's like having a wad of $20's in the field!

I always carry more dip than the PX can usually stock. If it's one thing I learned is that life can get pretty stupid, very fast. So I'm always prepared to dig in and be stuck somewhere for a long time.

Other than the above mentioned. I keep my IPOD and a small battery operated external speaker that hooks to it. Nothing like a motivation getter for my guys than to plug it in and play some goofy ass "sing along" music when motivation is lagging and they are tired.

I did have a interesting conversation with my CDR one field problem when I busted out some vintage Rolling Stones and everyone was singing along and dancing in out Plt AA...lol.

A small pillow. Sleeping on top of tanks is not comfortable.
