What I'd really like to see is not a Democrat or Republican, but an AMERICAN!! Someone who truly puts the American people first. Someone who's not swayed by the big money. And above all honesty! But I think the chances of me winning the billion dollar lottery is higher than my hopes for POTUS.

SGM Mikel Dawson, Well stated. That reflects the majority of opinion I run into. Thank you.

I think Leadership is the most important characteristic I look for in a President. I am old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis & how President Kennedy exerted strong leadership when many of us thought we would be going into Cuba to take out their missile batteries. I think George H.W. Bush exerted strong leadership when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. I think the only time Obama exerted strong leadership when was he gave the OK to capture Osama Bin Laden..but that was the only time in his 7 years in the White House that I can think of.

Sgt Tom Cunnally, Great point. I would have added leadership but they only gave me 5 options. Knew I should have listed it.

Doug Macdonald There are just more than one, but first "Trust", secondly I look at Honesty, then Integrity, then Military Experience. Political background means very little to me. I think we need to have fresh ideas and leadership from the military services or from the private sector. Just my opinion.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs, You are right. There are more than one. I had a hard time picking just 5. Leadership was definitely missing. I was interested in what the primary characteristic would be. Integrity seems to be leading the way. Thanks for your input.
