What channels do I go through to get BAH?

My wife and I are dual military her being air force and myself active duty army. She unfortunately will be getting a medical retirement later this year due to some serious health issues developed during her time in service. We have a special needs baby as well in which tricare is the only insurance that will support him so I went guard to active. What channels do I go through to get BAH?

Don't know what forms are required at this time. But you will need to make sure that your HR/Personnel and Finance office have the correct paperwork to include marriage license and birth certificates, and possibly mortgage, lease, or rental agreement on your current or future residence. The rest of it I no longer know.

Just contact your S-1 for the proper papers for BAH.....simple as that. Also, ask your S-1 if you will need an EFMP.

Like SFC Kain stated, just inform your NCO Support Channel and Company Leadership of your situation and they will get the ball rolling with what paperwork is required. Then, your S-1 will assist you in filling out the paperwork required and you will be on your way.

Form 5960 and supporting documents, like marriage cert. Birth Cert, or court docs stating custody. S-1 should fill them out or who ever handles your units finance paper work.

Go up the CoC. If your squad leader is not helping you then your squad leader is not helping you so go to PSG and on up.

Thanks everyone Its much appreciated. I am new to how the active duty works and yes I do understand chain of command definitely not unfamiliar with it. I have been doing pre trip planning and making sure I cover all my bases before I even report. I am a very thorough individual when it comes to planning. My biggest concern is making sure my family has a place to go when my wife gets her medical retirement and during that waiting period making sure I have a stable residence outside the barracks so I can spend time with my child. Pretty sure they wont allow my kid in the barracks especially when his baby room likes like a hospital room with all of his equipment. I was trying my best to see if I can get everything sorted out during in processing when they send me to the finance office to get pay all set up.

Talk with your first line supervisor first. Worse case scenario you will end up at Finance to fill out some paperwork.
