What changes to veteran's benefits do you wish to see in the new year?

As we wrap up 2017, I think about the state of our VA and the care our wounded veterans receive. We all have a friend or family member with a VA story. Some are good, but a lot to me are horror stories; denied care/disability benefits, longer than appropriate waiting times to receive treatment, un-monitored prescribing of narcotics, you name it...What do you wish our government would change in 2018 to make VA care better?

Since you used the term "veteran's benefits" in the title of this discussion, and not "medical benefits," I'd like to stop hearing horror stories about veterans' post 9/11 GI bills taking 90+ days to pay out BAH benefits, since the veterans' landlords certainly aren't waiting that long.

It would be great if they do a cranial extraction, and start doing as promised to those wounded, or injured during their time in combat or while in the service.

Working at the VA, I would say one of the biggest changes I would like to see is for Title 38 employees (Doctor's, Nurses, and other Care Givers (For the record, I am a title 5 employee and not covered by this), to get fair and equitable compensation for the area they live in. My facility is in the on the San Francisco Peninsula, the most expensive area to live. We lose to many good people to the high cost of living here, and the low wages of being in Government service. You want to recruit and keep the people you need to take care of you, end the back logs, get you the care you deserve...pay them. They leave for greener pastures.
