Though I think Cavalry like Artillery uses something different for Company level elements. I think it&#39;s Troop, like Arty uses Battery.<br /><br />EDIT<br />A quick check says the 7th Cavalry Regiment, A Company was formed at Fort Riley, Kansas in September1866 and that the Company was changed to Troop in 1883.
