Humidity is average around 60-70%. Terrain is varied. From flat to mountain.

As for getting mentally prepared....just know you're going to be tired, physically and mentally taxed.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2023 1:45 PM2023-04-09T13:45:08-04:002023-04-09T13:45:08-04:00Sgt Private RallyPoint Member8222232

Gil Gonzalez Below is a previous post. Expect it to get hot as hell, maybe somewhat humid too. I went to Advanced Camp in Kansas during June/July, and it was pretty rough. Freaky and scary storms too.Response by LTC Kevin B. made Apr 9 at 2023 7:57 PM2023-04-09T19:57:37-04:002023-04-09T19:57:37-04:00PV2 Private RallyPoint Member8222694

I left Ft. Sill in January. Getting there in May means you’ll be in Oklahoma for the summer. Be prepared to sweat, a lot! Stay hydrated while you’re there, heat casualties are no joke and you can get a med board if you miss too much training due to being a heat cat. The terrain is mostly flat, OK is a boring state, there’s not a lot to do around the base but don’t worry, you’ll never get to go off post anyhow (check out the artillery museum and the great planes museum when you get to family day, both of those museums are Awesome!)
I would start doing some hiking (rucking) now so your feet are used to all of the walking you’ll be doing, you walk everywhere in BCT.
Don’t go insane during reception, it will seem like purgatory but don’t fret for it won’t last forever! (Reception is the WORST part of BCT, you’ll soon learn to hate Vessey Hall)
Two biggest pieces of advice that I wish I had when I got to Fort Sill are: don’t let the bastards get you down, and don’t forget to drink the Kool-Aid!Response by PV2 Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 9 at 2023 11:05 PM2023-04-09T23:05:06-04:002023-04-09T23:05:06-04:00SP5 Private RallyPoint Member8223189

Gil Gonzalez Part of your mental preparation is to be certain that your spouse and family are ready nd able to deal with your extended absence and out of communication status during your BCT period. Excellent post. Thanks for sharing this. I recall having to go through the Warrior Transition Course or WTC at Fort Sill. I did it in January of 2010.
