What type of training? How long is this training? Where is it offered? You may be completing ACAP right now but you are still a Soldier and have obligations. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 25 Sep 2017 09:36:00 -0400 2017-09-25T09:36:00-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 25 at 2017 10:14 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-can-i-do-if-my-sgm-is-denying-my-application-to-attend-training-that-i-need-for-transitioning-out-of-the-army-to-accept-a-job-offer?n=2945294&urlhash=2945294

While its true you are still a soldier and have obligations your leadership also has obligations. Obligations to set you up for success and transition from military service into a successful life outside of the army. It sounds like there is more to the story, it doesnt sound very segeant major-ish.. There's more to this. Why is he denying the application? What is the application? Sounds strange. How can he deny an application? Are you talking about leave? Is he denying your leave request? Pass request? Well, he can do that. Especially if you are a low density MOS and they need you on the job until your terminal leave kicks in. So if that's the case, you can't do anything. You could file an IG complaint, but they are regulation driven. If it's within the regs, then they are going to tell you what I just told you. Need more information. Accepts the unplanned task with a good attitude not a bitch and complaint and much more.....

I always found it easy to say yes to an SM that was worthy of "extras". That was the SM that I considered 1st for what I call "performance punishment" The SM you can always trust to get "it" done,, be it the planned job, or the unplanned tasking.. you just tell them what, when , where and GO..than you get a "Its Done Sergeant Major" sometime later and I never hear from the one that the task was for, because it was done right on time, without issue. When that SM ask for unplanned leave, a 4 day pass, duty time to take a certification class perhaps not strictly dealing with current assigned duties, but good for the SM in some other way.... its an easy yes. All others, its going to be, Does it impact the unit AT ALL to let them go.. If yes, then the answer to the SM is no.

ACAP training and briefings are required, buts thats not what your asking for.
Significant time off for schooling is commonly used as reenlistment incentive..not as a gime to those getting out.

I don't know near enough background to say you should or should not be given this opportunity.. But Id bet your CSM does..... You went though the effort to make a fake account so you can complain about some perceived injustice from your CSM? You mentioned several times that you are at peace with the situation...then why did you make the post in the first place. I am unclear what you expect from folks that are responding to your query, especially when you are not giving the full story.
I have never heard of a senior NCO overriding a commander's decision. Influence..hell yes..that's part of the job. I think you already know what actions you can take: taking the issue further up the chain of command. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 28 Sep 2017 01:07:34 -0400 2017-09-28T01:07:34-04:00 2017-09-25T09:25:26-04:00
