Put a CRAM on the roof, and USE it!! I am sure it can be tailored to include targeting drones, and unauthorized air frames!

I live outside DC. Protecting its airspace is kind of an odd concept as Reagan National sits right there next to it. Baltimore is a stones throw. Andrews is within sight of it.

By the time you realize something is going wrong, the issue is already over.

It's a "minor" metropolitan area with major metro suburbs. It's not even the airspace you have to worry about. Sure an aircraft can cause damage, but so can a box truck.

SGM Dan Coberly, Doesn't DC already have an electronic jamming system? A few years ago during PM rush hour the navigation system in my rental car would not guide me to the train station to return the car! I blamed the problem on electronic jamming.

Provide ground to air radar, provide SHORAD Batteries around Washington DC, Use Non Lethal means of deterrent, Have a alert pair of F16s at the ready at all time or a CAP at all times 24/7, lastly engage and destroy minimizing loss of life and property

It depends on the threat: hardened facilities and bunkers seem to be the best option because they help with just about every threat. Adequate radar and even visual spotters are necessary for early warning. However, most countermeasures are target specific: radio/cell phone jamming capability, radiation detectors, anti-missile/anti-aircraft systems, and CAP aircraft on demand, all have their place. However, what is worse; a plane flying into (or over) a protected building or air space? or a plane that is shot out of the sky which then falls into a building? Its a tough call for someone to make.
