What boots do you recommend for someone who is flat-footed and foresees a fair amount of time rucking and in the field?

If you’re at Benning for OCS and have a pass on the weekend go to the Below the Knee store and get your feet tested. I don’t think boot type matter for feet but you could at least get an insole that’s best for your foot. If you want something that’s light, sturdy and dries quick look at the Garmony T8s or the Belleville C320s both are good and both served me well at OCS in benning.

Doesn't matter so much what brand of boot you have as long as you have good, custom molded insoles made. But I do recommend getting something light. Danner and Rocky always seemed too heavy to me, so I stuck to Altama and Belleville.

I always wore issued. 40 years and 2 bad knees later, I wish I'd invested in some Danners at the time.

I recommend regular issue boots, in your correct size, with a SOPC special from a boot shop. For your flat feet, insoles are more important than boot type as long as your boot is properly fit. The problem most people have is they size their ruck boots off their garisson size. Your feet swell about a half size when you're rucking

For the field, I’d recommend using the Rocky S2V. It has great support and they’re for sure, durable. The S2Vs are heavy, but will for sure keep your feet protected against the elements.

For rucking in general, go for the Garmont T8. They’re lightweight and provide great mobility for long distance ruck marches.

When it comes to boots and flat feet you and I have the same affliction and a bigger problem. Boots are horrible for flat feet. Buy a boot a 1/2 size larger and get some kind of orthotic gel inside, it should take care of most of the problem. But, you should see a specialist and get inserts made for your feet. The most comfortable boot I have is a motorcycle boot from Milwaukee boot company. Hope it helps.

I have the same issue. Make an appointment to see an Ortho doctor. They can give you great insoles and they will make a referral to a civilian doctor who can make custom insoles specifically using your feet molds.
Always remember, few of the most important things in life are the things that separate you and the ground; Shoes, Tires and Bed.

Best walking (rucking) boots I ever used were Bates M1, original pair was purchased at Ranger store outside benning, subsequent pairs purchased at LAPoliceGear.com Now it's called the desert boot 2250

Keep all documents regarding boots..exams...orthopedic devices...as this may come up in disability claims years from now...if I am correct they will claim preexisting...really watch your symptoms and be careful and use the correct verbage... during exams or other issues regarding your feet....
