What book would you recommend for junior leaders?

The Mission, The Men, and Me by Pete Blaber. It written from a SPECOPS point of view but the messages and leadership lessons in it are really applicable to junior leaders. I would also recommend Words for Warriors by COL(R) Ralph Puckett. This book is one of my personal go-to books for leadership lessons.

Chances are, you already work with someone with PTSD, read "Achilles in Vietnam". It will give you a better understanding of the PTSD problem, its causes, and effect. If you read it correctly, it will also help you prevent others from suffering it.

"We were Soldiers once . . . and Young" by LG Harold G. Moore.   Simply one of the finest examples of a natural leader I have ever seen.  If you're not a reader then watch the movie; they managed to get quite a bit of the leadership nuances into it despite the limitations you have in translating a novel to the screen. There are lessons on counseling, mission command, leading by example, and just plain caring about your subordinates that every military leader can learn from and apply.
