I've also supported SUDS, a scuba program for disabled vets that is outstanding. What I think is important that as individuals we give back or contribute in a positive manner. If we have more positive forces working than negatives our communities will reap the benefits. Used to be a member of AUSA under the 'highly recommended you be a member' period (stomp, stomp) which left a rather bad taste for me. Nothing against the organization as a whole, just the strong arm influence of command over becoming a member. When I was enlisted and deployed, my grandfather (WWII Vet) died...my Dad was having problems figuring out how to work the burial and honor guard; I sent one e-mail to the VFW's national page, and while I never heard anything back, they contacted my Dad and took care of everything for the Funeral.<br /><br />As soon as I returned from (my first combat) deployment, I joined as a lifetime member (which as a Corporal was a big investment for me).
