What are your thoughts on the surge of personnel that they are sending to Korea?

I believe to prepare for any all-out war with Middle East should it come down to it. Korea is a friendly nation just like Japan, so that's my thought.

Hmmmm, not to many years ago. 2ID was at a full compliment of the whole Division being there. In the 90s they basically moved 3rd Bde to FT Lewis. In 2004/5, they deployed the old 2nd Brigade to either OIF or OEF, can remember which off hand. Then after there tour, they went to FT Lewis....

From what I seen so far, they are only rotating Battalions one at a time on a 9 month rotation.

And the units are staying in the Ujongbu area, just north of Seoul and south!

I spent one year at Camp Stanley, 12 years total up near the DMZ... With several times up on the DMZ for the old American sector we gave up in 1991.

Don't really think that there is any 'surge'. We use to have 3 divisions there, then two, then one and now a endorsed heavy brigade. They are rotating units through Korea I think more or less to give experience to the troops serving today.
