Camo out, and add a button like the Marines. Also, have it rolled just passed the elbows. This would not cover the SSI. We should make the ability to roll the sleeves up part of the uniform, not make the uniform the part of the roll.

Besides the fact you may get burned by a shell casing, or eaten by insects if you hit the dirt, or scrape yourself and then have to worry about infections, or have to use more camp paint I'd say go for it!!!

Hate to spend money on all these new uniforms just to roll them up where you can't see the camo. It's like parking my lambo in the garage (if I had one...). The Army spent all that money for the new camo, so camo out!

Either way back when I first joined we were allowed to roll em up the Army did it so the cuff was out so that if you got caught in a NBC mopp level 1 through 4 you could pull on the sleeve cuffs and it would pull down super easy, other branches like the Marines rolled there's up and it took more time to get them down but each branch had a reason for the way they did it so it would probably be the same set up as before. For myself I preferred the Army way because it was a fast way to get those sleeves down when needed.

Don't put a picture of fit soldiers up for display, put a picture of about 70% of the army's forces that have big guts and small arms. What after rolling up sleeves will they replace the soldiers with marines, that's the only way it will look half way decent across our forces. Plus the uniform is designed to protect us from direct sunlight. Guess that's out of the window too.

My response to the question is camo out. However, I want our sleeves rolled up during the summer months, but we need to roll the sleeves up to atleast the mid tricep to look right. We will not be able to do this with our current design and we have spent enough money on changes to our clothing bags. I promise you CSM that if we approve to roll these sleeves in this design Soldiers will look awful. We must go back to the drawing board!

Roll them up like any other shirt. The old way off rolling up bdu sleeves was too tight on anyone with any muscle mass. Keep it simple. Just roll them up.

I preferred camo in more because as a typically coordinated engineer, it was easier to roll the sleeves up on the outside. Besides you could blow your nose on it and it'd still look good when you unrolled it. Seriously, out in the badlands, water was too scarce to waste it on laundry except for skivvies and feet. I do respect the "purist dinosaurs" out there though.

Makes no difference to me really since I don't have worry about it. I do think that camo out looks better through. The sleeve rolling with the current uniform does look kind of silly though given the sleeve pocket location.

I say we do away with all of the "high speed" fashionista stuff and go back to the OD green with the slanted pockets and roll the sleeves rolled smartly the way a sensible person would. Let SEALS, SF, PJ and all those other "Operator" types wear whatever works best for their mission.

Make this the ground field/working uniform for all services, differentiated by the service tape and the Marines having the "eight point" cover with the EGA on it. Let the Navy wear the eight point without EGA like we've always done because A) We're not Soldiers, and B) Everyone knows, no EGA...no Oo-Rah.

Ships are floating garrisons...Everyone seems to like the blue coveralls, but make 'em out of fire retardant material (don't they these days?) and working khaki for Chiefs/Officers, Denim and Blue for the Blue Shirts as alternative for bridge / topside watch.

For the love of Pete, bring back a cotton, smart looking, summer service dress in Khaki for the Navy E7 and Above...no "CNT" bags, no 1990's-esque "SeaQuest" uniforms...the good old SDK in cotton drill with the belt.

Sleeves down or you're going to see all the young guys running back to the gym just to do arm curls. I know it's hot but your skin does like the cover the sleeves provide, and I'm really not a fan of how tight it is around the bicep and some guys had to tailor their sleeves to fit. Also we loose function of the pockets on the upper bicep area when up either way.

I say camo in since that's how the Marines roll their sleeves. I like being able to see that perfect flat sleeve fold. Makes you look extra sharp. Using the picture as an example, I can't even see the roll of the guy on the left, he could have just cut his sleeves off and made a tshirt.

From a simple Soldiers perspective.......Sleeves down since it detracts from the uniform based on where the pockets/patches are placed.

From a Preventive Medicine perspective......sleeves down because Soldiers will conveniently forget to apply sun screen then complain at sick call because they have severe sun burn on their "guns."

SMA Dailey has made the most common sense changes, of every SMA since I have been in. Making choices that matter to us is what that position is all about. Hopefully he doesn't think we need a lanyard on the PT belt next.

How about we get Congress to pass a law that the SMA and/or CSA are only allowed to make one change to any Army uniform during their tenure. I've seen OD greens, green fatigues, BDUs, DCUs, ACU UCPs, and ACU OCPs; starch, no starch; yellow PTs, gray PTs, reflective gray and black PTs, black and gold PTs, all with white socks... wait, no, black socks; Class A greens, slightly different shade of Class A greens, ASU blues, garrison hats, black berets; sew-on patches, Velcro patches; sew-on badges, pin-on badges; and that is just the male uniforms. And, don't get me started on the ridiculous proliferation of service and end-of-tour awards. Maybe I'm just to damn close to my MRD.
