How or what would your reaction be if you had an Atheist in your ranks?
Should religion be an issue in the military?

Shouldn't be an issue at all! Freedom of religion is important and even though my faith is extremely important to me, I would expect people to treat my beliefs with respect as I would respect theirs.

Irrelevant. We had many different faiths among our ranks while I served. They were afforded the opportunity to practice faith as they seen fit.

I don't think that religion should be a factor just like I don't believe race or gender should be a factor. If the individual is qualified let them do their job!

Religion is like race or sexuality. It doesn't make a difference to the strength of our forces.

Served beside multiple atheists and other than Christian but it never bothered me. I am still friends with a couple of the atheists because we respect each other and the others beliefs. He would have took a bullet for me and I for him, that's what matters who has your back when SHTF.

My thoughts are why are the spiritual or religious beliefs of someone becoming a topic of public discussion in the ranks? Who brought it up? Why did they bring it up? Is it becoming an issue prejudicial to good order and discipline? It is a work place. I do not believe spiritual beliefs should impact one way or another on the work day.

We live in the land of the free, I would not make an issue about any of my Soldiers beliefs. As long as they don't use it as an excuse when it's time to take care of business.
