PO3 Aaron Hassay 7063118 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I imagine a active duty guy might say something alone the lines like this.<br /><br />Yeah I am in the military<br />Yeah it is rough I am in this unit this and that let them guess what ever they wanted to guess from there<br />You stand up straigth and you have all your cool military buddies with you and you all have a good time and the girl likes it and gets wrapped in<br />You get a kid<br />The Military takes care of you financially enough to raise the kid.<br />You get the honorable<br />You get your degree with the GI bill<br />You are in your mid twenties and all this has happened<br />Your kid grows up and you have a fairly cool relationship with your girl..<br /><br />Ok—-<br /><br />Then their is mine that I try to create for a young guy with a reserve enlistment.<br /><br />The girl goes by.<br /><br />You are in shock<br /><br />You used to feel confident to some extent especially after a successful bootcamp<br /><br />You are alone at the bar<br /><br />The full time active duty guys you are embedded and supporting never call you for a drink in between weeks of time off (what ever you want to call it) between monthly duty<br /><br />You are younger then them.<br /><br />This is a superiourly high stress high demand position assigned to a undermanned active duty combat command<br /><br />Reesrve pay sucks far below poverty<br /><br />You get pressed beyond the max every month on duty and you actually have to freeze as their is no way to digest it<br /><br />It as if you have this gigantic mathmatical theoretical quiz that you must figure out how to make this into a story of success<br /><br />But in reality you are just freaking overloaded and not even 21.<br /><br />The world seems on your shoulders with this duty assignment<br /><br />Your pick up lines are not one of any assuring or confidence ...it is basically a young hurting man with some testosterone trying to find safety in someone else...<br /><br />How does a girl actually feel comfortable with that<br /><br />Your concerns with this are finally reminded and doubly assured when you go to the va and they say get lost you dont have enough active duty days to be a veteran for veteran purposes..screw this piece of paper that says honorable on it...its on a reserve discharge....<br /><br />But no one is tracking this<br /><br />So if the government can not at all be proud of you and support you and acknowledge you directly fro the minute you walk in the door with a reserve enlistment...then how the heck is a lady supposed to feel confident with you and your position in life...<br /><br /><br />I dont think they at all think of this scenario in all their 22 a day veteran suicides....<br /><br />Signing an enlistment that is basically invisible unless you appeal and appeal 2021-06-23T03:42:23-04:00 PO3 Aaron Hassay 7063118
