My favorite Christmas while deployed was in Singapore 2011. I spent the day with a local family who sponsored US Sailors and Marines in their home.

Spending time with my brothers in command outposts and patrol base during the holidays are one of the best times of my life. Everyone seem more relax in terms of uniform wear on our down time instead of worrying about CSM visiting.

We were given a stand down day on xmas. I have never played so much spades in one day as xmas 2006. Honestly its probably my favorite holiday of all time. Family is great, but there's nothing like enjoying a nice meal served by the guys sending you out every day, with the guys you go out with every day.
