I just had to comment since this is the first post I've noticed in a while under this topic. Most of my trail running is on small rollers on single track. I'd love to try a mountain trail, but those are in very short supply in northern Illinois. :DResponse by CPL Brendan Hayes made Oct 29 at 2015 4:12 PM2015-10-29T16:12:06-04:002015-10-29T16:12:06-04:00CPT Private RallyPoint Member1077034<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've heard a lot of good things about "The Jug" in Salome. It's very technical in that you have to wade through water and rappel down a cliff to get to the natural water slide. Probably too cold to do it comfortably now, but next summer I really want to do it. If you're looking for normal hiking, check out echo canyon trail on camelback mountain and the trails on the north mounting preserve. Piestiwa peak is also a fun one to hike. Or if you want to make a trip out of the valley, the trails in Sedona have some great scenery.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 30 at 2015 12:55 PM2015-10-30T12:55:49-04:002015-10-30T12:55:49-04:00SSgt Rilene Ann1081437<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>All my favorite are in Alaska!Response by SSgt Rilene Ann made Nov 1 at 2015 8:46 PM2015-11-01T20:46:34-05:002015-11-01T20:46:34-05:00SMSgt Sheila Berg1104890<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hawk Mountain, Reading PA.Response by SMSgt Sheila Berg made Nov 12 at 2015 5:14 PM2015-11-12T17:14:22-05:002015-11-12T17:14:22-05:00SPC Mark Burle1217691<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yeah, I like Tom's thumb you should try it out.<br />My favorites are Camelback, Piestewa peak, Four Peaks is tough to get to but a great hike, Flat iron hike is great. And if you go out of Phoenix to Sedona, Payson, Flagstaff, Tucson or the Grand Canyon there are some awesome hikes.<br /><br />But in Phoenix I like South Mountain, Mcdowell Mountain Preserve, and those I listed earlier.<br />Take careResponse by SPC Mark Burle made Jan 6 at 2016 2:41 AM2016-01-06T02:41:06-05:002016-01-06T02:41:06-05:00M Alb1388237<div class="images-v2-count-1"><div class="content-picture image-v2-number-1" id="image-83316"> <div class="social_icons social-buttons-on-image">

One of my all time favorites is the Washington Park trail because it connects to the Railroad Tunnel trail. You go from the base of the Mogillon Rim to the top. You can get there if you go to Payson and get on Control Road. There is a sign for Washington Park. You also have a good chance of seeing Elk, Deer, and the occasional Black Bear. I haven't done it in a while because it is hell on my hips, but definitely a great hike. I took this photo in early December.Response by M Alb made Mar 18 at 2016 1:38 PM2016-03-18T13:38:59-04:002016-03-18T13:38:59-04:002015-10-29T02:53:52-04:00
