What are your bad PCS experiences and with whom?

It's almost PCS season again.We had a horrendous experience with Bekins regarding damages/losses, and claims.

We used Bekins also for my retirement move. Talk about problems. Ask the mover if they are using day labor or not.

My neighbor on Adak got the triple whammy. First his vehicle was put in a shipping container which is standard practice. Problem was the hoist cable snapped while transferring in Cold Bay. 600 feet down and nobody is going after it. Problems compounded as his HHG got into a jackknife and flipped, spreading the HHG over a couple of acres. I think is small weight set was the only thing undamaged. Bottom line, a total write off. Then he had to go through hell with the move office with his claim because they didn't understand the word "total". And "important" has no cash value.

Coleman, from Hawaii. My wife has PCS PTSD! Although I must say they are supposedly paying the full claimed amount of damages... hmmm the check is in the mail.

The only time I "relied" on gov movers was when I was overseas. Other than that I've done nothing but DITY moves. Why trust lowest bidder with all headaches of claims when I can do a little extra work on my end, make sure my stuff is properly taken care of.
