First of all, you are using a word that doesn't apply. "Coup a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government." Second, they may have had interns around.

A) It wasn't a coup. Our government is still in place
B) Maybe they don't want to waste time and money?
B1) Yes - I know that is two-faced after other investigations they HAVE supported (chiefly, Benghazi).
B2) However how much money did we waste on the pointless Russia investigation that Democrats insisted on?
C) To quote Hillary, "What difference, at this point, does it make?" Seriously... It happened, it is done, they didn't succeed. The folks who stormed the capitol have been arrested or are being arrested, and will face trial.
C1) This VERY MUCH has the mark of ANOTHER witch hunt to try and pin something on the Donald. They already impeached him - TWICE - and failed to convict him either of those times - and one of those times was with a biased "grand jury", the other with a was with a biased "grand jury," judge, AND jury. Oh, and evidence and witness rules that were ridiculous.
C2) They want to find a way to continue to smear his name, not actually find any truth.
D) Congress has better things to be spending their time AND money on. Like creating a BALANCED budget for the first time in a quarter century, or actually legislating stuff, rather than abdicating their responsibilities and just letting non-elected bureaucrats make their own rules which become de facto laws.

1) Answering for myself: A kangaroo court investigation following the same model as the previous 4+ years of investigations produces NO RESULTS.

2) The FBI and DC Police are doing investigations. Is that not enough? Or do you not think these organizations can do their jobs? Or are you a defund the police supporter and want anarchy to rule?

3) Sorry miss anonymous. You have no right to judge after more than a year of insurrection activities from your buddies in Antifa, BLM and other anarchist groups.

It is interesting that one of the few times a right wing demonstration escalates to a Civil Disturbance in this country and we hear such colorful descriptions such as COUP, INSURRECTION, ARMED INSURRECTION, ATTEMPT AT OVERTHROW, etc. Facts are the protest only impacted one of three co-equal branches of government so if it was any of the above it was poorly planned. At any rate it is comforting the National Guards involved still refer to it objectively as a Civil Disturbance. BTW, it is being investigated and the investigation is still underway per the Justice Department......it wasn't something that was voted on by Republicans or Democrats the investigation was initiated by the Trump administration and is being continued by the Biden administration.

Is there some reason reason to suspect that a Congressional investigation will be of such a scope that it will bring more to light than investigations being conducted by the D.C. Police and the FBI?

If so, who or what are restraining the D.C. Police and the FBI? But by all means investigate away.

If it is just a chance to use Committee meetings an opportunity to gain air time and televise pissing contests, once again investigate away. I believe that every opportunity to showcase the asinine conduct of the idiots we elected provides a glimmer of hope that we will vote the bastards out.

What do you think a Congressional investigation might turn up that the D.C. police and FBI won't?
