I'm No Points/No Pay for medical issues and they don't want to deal with me anymore. I've been on NP/NP for 18 months. What are the pros and cons of transferring to the IRR? Another wing is willing to pick me up when the medical issues are resolved. What are the pros and cons of transferring to the IRR?2018-05-11T11:54:51-04:00TSgt Private RallyPoint Member3619056<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My USAF Reserve Wing wants to transfer me to the IRR. I have a friend who is an officer who is in the Army Reserve. He does not like his command. He wants to go in the inactive ready Reserve. His command is dragging their feet and so far he has waited 2 months to go into the irr. I have been talking to a full-time active-duty major who told me that the soldier could get out easier if he gets put into the Ima. The acronym IMA may exist in the Air Force and that stands for individual mobilization augmentee. As an individual mobilization augmentee you may be able to get picked up by another Air Force entity that works in north, or south Com or africom or pacom or whatever and you will be assigned to them for maybe temporary active duty for a month or two or up to a year and you can stay on their books and nobody else can touch you. My friend I'm referring to is trying to get away from his command so he can take a position as a liaison officer going full time for a title 10 tour in Honduras.. he can't tell his command that the real reason he is having financial hardship and issues is that he actually wants to go and take a long tour. He lives in an expensive housing location so his BAH will be really high. Try to see if you can go as an individual mobilization augmentee instead of being in the IRR. I have also heard that people who are in the irr can take tours inside the United States. I am not sure if your medical issues will prevent you from going on an irr tour. You could basically do one month active duty in that will cover you for the whole year. It all depends on the needs of the Air Force Reserve. I'm just hoping that the logic that I know works for your Air Force Reserve component. Please let me know.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made May 11 at 2018 12:03 PM2018-05-11T12:03:10-04:002018-05-11T12:03:10-04:002018-05-11T11:54:51-04:00
