You can complete your first two years of a 4 year school for less than half the price, then transfer over. Just know where you want to go, and work towards those requirements. I ended up transferring to Christopher Newport where my foreign language was a requirement and not just an elective. They have some superb instructors. If you do well at TCC (good GPA) you can go to a four year school in Virginia. I wanted to attend Johnson & Wales or the Culinary Institute of America, but they were both well above my price range. TCC was local, cost effective, and provided me the same level of education I would have received at either of the other two institutions. I was further able to settle on a final degree path without putting myself in debt for several years. I look back on those two years at TCC with fondness.
