This will happen if you are not specifically choosing an MOS prior to MEPS. As for Airborne, they may very well ask you if you want to go Airborne, and you will fill out a &quot;Dream Sheet&quot; of assignments you want...but then hope and pray you actually get one of those. When I went Active Duty back in &#39;96, I wanted to stay a Medic. I ended up a 12B. As for assignments, I put Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, and Germany. I was sent to Ft Irwin, CA.
