MSgt George Cater I'm not big on posting Politics, because we got overrun with it in 2016. I believe it would be very dangerous for our country to set such a precedence in our Government's history. I don't see it happening. I don't see Trump having sex with anyone in the White House except his wife. Other than that he is causing the swamp rats in Washington DC to hang on to their hats, because they aren't use to doing anything fast. Hold on Republicans, Democrats, and Independents! I'd say very low. Due to the sweeping changes in congress, I'd say opposition to Trump would be hard pressed to get the needed 2/3 majority congress requires to apply that official censure. Many people think that impeachment removes the president from office. It does not, it can build pressure for that to happen, but like with President Clinton, a President can be impeached and still remain in office.

Trump isn't dumb enough to do something illegal to cause impeachment. The Republicans do control Congress and, will not impeach a fellow Republican (even though he's not well liked in the party). We are seeing the Democrats fringe liberals in their party becoming like the Tea Party like the Republicans. They'll make a lot of noise and obstruct President Trump's moves when possible. This will cause more executive actions like what President Obama had done causing precedence for using executive actions.

Unless he does something that is so outrageous, immoral and illegal, the likelihood is zero, even if he alienates more of the Republican party. Impeachment is not a popularity (or lack thereof) contest, if it were, I doubt we would have had too many Presidents who made it through their entire 1st term.

Don't discount the possibility it'll come from the GOP. Many GOP cliques have legitimate issues with him; Libertarians, Neocons, free traders, anyone critical of Russia, etc. I suspect most of them would be far more comfortable with Pence than Trump. I wouldn't be shocked if Ryan has a Mad Libs like fill-in-the-blanks Articles of Impeachment for him waiting in the wings. You'll find plenty of criticism for him in historically GOP publications like WSJ, and National Review; and also in places critical of Obama like the Cato institute and Reason Magazine.

Start by looking at the source, i.e. the Constitution:
“The president, vice-president, and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

I'm a bit troubled with the notion of the Senate having the conviction authority as it's heavily tainted with politics. I would prefer the interpretation be a Judicial process convicts based on a real law and then the House can impeach based on the court action. "Obstruction of Justice", whatever that means, is the UCMJ Article 134 equivalent. That's why I really didn't like the Bill/Monica theatrical production. Nixon resigned because he accurately read the tealeaves.

Now the likelihood. Politics could come into play if the Republicans get so fed up with Trump, they see an opening to put someone they can work with in (Pence) and Ryan steps into the Number 2 slot. The Dems would gladly play along. So it's a matter of how much Trump pisses everyone off. I know people wanted a "zero" option, but honestly looking at it, Trump has some potential to be his own worst enemy.

Negligible. For those of you who are not too familiar with politics, to bring up official impeachment proceedings is political suicide unless you have the political/legal equivalent of a nuke. For a Republican to bring impeachment proceedings against a sitting Republican President, there would have to be something worth risking your political (and since Trump is an influential business tycoon, your post-politics) life on. The second order effects would be that the Republican Party, as a whole, would lose any and all credibility it has left if it ate its own.

Since the Republicans have a majority in both houses of Congress, a Democrat sponsored attempt would just be laughable, and lose them a lot of credibility for even trying something that was dead on arrival.

It is astounding to me that so many people in America, and on here as well, are so threatened by someone who wants only to strengthen our own nation. I get why the politicos are afraid of him-- he is a political outsider, and he is not part of "The Estabilshment." That is why you see the possibility of collusion between the Republicans and Democrats. THIS ALONE should scare any Freedom Loving American-- there are no longer two parties-- they are two branches of the same tree, colluding to defraud We The People, keep us divided, and then divide up the spoils. Trump is not part of that Establishment, and thus represents a serious threat to their ongoing operations. So we all have a choice to make-- keep fooling ourselves that The Establishment will somehow make things better, or take a chance on someone who is NOT The Establishment and wants to help Americans again. So either be a Sheeple basking in Cognitive Dissonance, or think for yourself and realize what The Big Picture really is... Choose well.

Not even a prosecution for egregious mishandling of classified info. BHO, backdoor deals with Iran including cash payments to an enemy of the US... nope no impeachment there.... I am truly curious just what one thinks he has done that would even qualify for impeachment.

I heard a few cries for Obama to be impeached early in his tenure also. He too did nothing of an impeachable nature.

Just for thought. Not being liked is not grounds for impeachment.

Many are screaming words like illegal, unconstitutional or beyond the scope of the office but provide no proof of evidence to validate their assertions. The impeachment process would take much more then the first hundred days to complete. But first and foremost you need to provide solid evidence not conjecture because you have different opinions and ideas then the other person. Although many within the Republican Party do not care for POTUS they will not turn on him. In the United States, impeachment at the Federal level is reserved for those who may have committed "high crimes and misdemeanors". The federal procedure in the United States involves a vote for impeachment in the House of Representatives on a document known as the Article of Impeachment. Each separate grounds will be a separate Article. House members who support the impeachment then appoint managers who will act like prosecutors in the preparation for the Senate hearing. The hearing for removal is conducted in the Senate and in the case of the impeachment of a President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States presides over the proceedings (otherwise the Vice-president presides) which are conducted as a trial with witnesses being heard under oath or affirmation. The defendant has the right to legal counsel, the right to cross-examine all witnesses and to testify in his defense. The senators must also take an oath or affirmation that they will perform their duties honestly and with due diligence. The Hearing cannot be conducted without a 50% plus one quorum. After the Hearing the deliberations are held in private. Removal requires a two-thirds majority of the Senate.

Most of the people who talk about impeaching this or any other president have no idea what they are talking about. Impeachment is one thing and removal from office is an entirely different matter! I don't see either one happening and in fact find it a little disconcerting that those it the House would even be speaking on this-just tells me they have no idea what they're taking about or they believe we (the people) are really really stupid!!

It is a zero percent question. Even if he were guilty of something none of that would matter because he has a majority in his favor. Politics now trumps everything else as is normal in our banana republic. Maybe Trump can turn this around.
