SPC Christian Norris6292392<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had gotten chaptered out, due to a pt test failure, with an honorable discharge and am currently attending college for a year and a half. I won't be done with college until late 2021 or early 2022. Also had to take out student loans because GI Bill covers 90% of tuition. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. What are the chances of going back into the Army in a different MOS or as an officer after being chaptered out for PT test failure?2020-09-08T18:24:04-04:00SPC Christian Norris6292392<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had gotten chaptered out, due to a pt test failure, with an honorable discharge and am currently attending college for a year and a half. Commissioning moral standards are significantly higher than enlisted.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 8 at 2020 6:59 PM2020-09-08T18:59:17-04:002020-09-08T18:59:17-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6293119<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You should have discharge code on your separation orders. There are several codes, and I believe at least 2 or 3 of them Do Not allow you to return to duty.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 8 at 2020 10:47 PM2020-09-08T22:47:19-04:002020-09-08T22:47:19-04:00SGT Lenise Hamilton6293193<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SPC Norris,<br />Things often change at the drop of a hat, the only way you're going to know is to go for it then you will have your actual answer. Even if you wanted to commission as an officer via direct commission the application and review are much more strenuous than for enlisted. You would need to speak with a recruiter to see if you have any discharge codes that prevent you from signing up again and then would need to have those changed (you can read all the RE code threads on here to see how much of an uphill battle that is). Now maybe if you had some very critical AOC say something for AMEDD on the critical war time shortage list you might see a chance at a waiver....maybe.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2020 5:40 AM2020-09-09T05:40:58-04:002020-09-09T05:40:58-04:00SSgt Christophe Murphy6294458<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It depends on the re-enlistment code you received but if you were chaptered out for failure to maintain pt standards it doesn't look good. But just talk to a recruiter and get a better understanding of the process and what hurdles you need to navigate. But I will say that with the higher standards for Officers you will have an uphill battle.Response by SSgt Christophe Murphy made Sep 9 at 2020 10:34 AM2020-09-09T10:34:29-04:002020-09-09T10:34:29-04:00CWO3 Private RallyPoint Member6294590<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>RE3 anything may be waivered, or used to be. RE4, is a bar. A recruiter should be able to answer for sure.Response by CWO3 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 9 at 2020 11:19 AM2020-09-09T11:19:06-04:002020-09-09T11:19:06-04:002020-09-08T18:24:04-04:00
