What are the advantages of going Warrant as an E7?

I've heard a few different rumors and I can't bring light to any of them. someone told me that you come in as a W2 and somone else said you only have to go to the last 2 weeks of WOC. I'm asking because the E7 board convenes in one month and I'm 90% I will get my sequence number. I want to know if it would behove me to wait and drop my WO packet until after I pin SFC?

Does dropping your WO packet disqualify you from being considered for selection to SFC? If not, why wait?

You can be selected by the Warrant Officer board and the SFC Board also, I had a friend that was selected for MSG and WO in the same month, he selected Warrant officer.

There is no advantage to waiting, you do not get CW2. All WOC candidates will do a standard 5 week WOCs, If you want to be a Warrant Officer then apply you will just slow down your progression. Feel free to email with further questions.

I am currently going through the process for Warrant and have the advantage of WOCAP, Warrant Officer Candidate Advisement Program which is a GA National Guard Recruiting program.

As an E-7 (and as we have been told), I know you go to 5 weeks WOCS. No question. You graduate WO1. However, E-7 and above, after graduating WOBC, have a promotion packet submitted for CW2 and that promotion is retroactive to your WOCS graduation date. That is straight from the mouth of a former E-7 now WO1 who was a qualified, graduated Basic Course, and was just waiting for his promotion as the packet had been submitted.

That is precisely what I was told. I have not seen him since, but it was coorborated by the CW3 that runs the program.

The packet takes a while. I’d start it ASAP. If accepted, you could schedule your WOCS accordingly. I can’t speak to it being an advantage. You get the first promotion at 2 years regardless.

I wouldn't say there is an advantage per se. As a former senior NCO I would say it is more of a disadvantage. You may have the experience but these young Warrants really knows the systems. Also, it is a huge humbling adjustment. But being a WO is an amazing experience once you get through that first year hump.
