Carry Insurance or get Bonded.<br />2. Incorporate if possible - LLC is relatively cheap and a good way to protect your personal assets and not tie them into your business.<br />3. Lease your work associated vehicles for easier replacement as needed.<br />4. Keep very accurate records for taxes if you use your home as an office. My advice would be more the strategic and soft skills since I have been self employed in Europe since 1996, working as a consultant, turnaround specialist and also had 3 bars and a club in Berlin, Germany. <br />If you have specific questions I have many, many ideas and answers.
