What Are Some Thoughts From Basic Training! Please Share!
Its been since 1989/1990 since Basic Combat Training. I remember at a M-60 machinegun range; Drill Sergeant told me during in-ranks inspection with my weapon to tell them I come from my mother, instead of my hometown. Wow did I upset a lot of Drill Sergeants at FT. Sill, OK. The Platoon paid for my remarks.

Thanks Sergeant, I just spewed blue Fruity drink out of my nose laughing...From my mother...That is like the guy telling me to call the Puerto Rican First Sergeant "Good Morning Pendeho....which he said was Good Morning First Sergeant...Yeah, I wish I had watched that Cheech and Chong movie first.

My first thought hitting Parris Island was what in the world have I gotten myself into? Upon being honorably discharged, I looked at the paper and thought four tough years and all I get is this piece of paper, what a rip off, lol. Actually I felt like a chapter in my life was ended to soon. I only got out because I had gotten married and my wife didn't want me to stay in. I should have stayed single and built a full 20 yrs

SPC Margaret Higgins - Ma'am I don't regret it to the point that I dwell on it, and I have made a successful, rewarding life. I do contribute my successes to two great influences , one is My Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the lifestyle I learned to live while in the Corps. Always faithful, Never quit, determination to overcome, the seven P system, lead by example, and many other traits that the Marine Corps instilled in me at a young age. I was two months 17 years old when I joined.
