What are some things that I will need to have arriving at my first unit?

Any paperwork you got when you left Basic/AIT. All of your issue gear they didn’t take from you when you leave basic/ait.

All the stuff the Army issues to you. Uniforms, equipment, paperwork. A positive attitude, ready to learn, eager to serve.

Know your 4 rights as a Soldier:
Right Place
Right Time
doing the Right Thing
with the Right Attitude.

Aside from that, as already mentioned, have all of your issued gear and paperwork. If you have that, and you assert your rights, you will do OK.

Also, have a set of civilian linen. You should be issued standard Army linen if you don't have any of your own, but trust me, you want to have your own bedding. (Assuming you are single and will be living in the barracks. If you have a family in tow, the list of things to have is MUCH bigger - like furniture, etc. But hopefully you don't have to be told that.)

First and foremost: A great attitude. Trust me when I say, never complain and volunteer whenever you see an opportunity to help your fellow soldiers. Learn to love the suck, and learn to love service. The more you give early on, the more you will receive later on. Don't necessarily seek to be the greatest, but rather seek to be the greatest version of yourself that you can be. Most importantly, have a great attitude.

Hey buddy so keep your head up work hard. Always keep a positive attitude especially when things suck. Expect your first day to be Hell then after that it all up to you. Essentially they want to see what your made of day one. Just be you.
