What are some repercussions for changing majors in college when the GI Bill covered most of your current major?

Currently considering switching degrees and I know that a few of my credits will transfer over but not all of them. What would be negatives to making this move. Would I be paying out of pocket for the classes I took?

I know some who did but you have to have a good reason.

Only that it may take longer to finish your degree

1. It will take you longer to finish your degree
2. You need to see how much GI Bill money you have left vs. how many credit hours ($$) it will take you to finish the new degree. If it’s a deficit then you’ll end up having to get financial aid or pay out of pocket to finish the new degree.

Tuition Assistance requires you to apply for a degree change.
If you want to burn your GI Bill that's up to you. You'll only pay if you fail a class.

I would say the big one is spending up your GI Bill on classes you don't need. Could end up running out of GI bill money before you graduate a lot of that depends on how much per class and how many classes you need to complete degree requirements.

My Sister In Law Changed her degree plan but she was using the VA Voc Rehab Program. She had to talk to her councilor and get the switch approved. GI Bill may work the same way but not 100% sure. Best thing to do is talk to your assinged councilor at the school your attending.

I'd suggest that each of our past educational credits should transfer, with no loss of class time. Might need to shop a different insatuition.
