Depends on Where you’re at. I was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base In the 90s outside Las Vegas I got part time jobs at an art gallery making 1500 every weekend. The way I found that job I went to my church and ask my bishop and he gave me the number to somebody he knows. In today’s world you could do the Uber thing. And because your vehicle has the base pass on it service members will be calling up and using you all the time.

Consider being a sports referee on the side. Helps keep the PT thing going especially if you get into soccer as I did. It's so totally different than what you normally do, it can be therapeutic in taking your mind off the regular crapola. The pay is OK. When I was doing 6 games a weekend, I was pulling in $200-300. You start out getting $30/game with the younger kids. My high school stuff pays $50/game right now. I'm starting to wind it down a bit, but the activity keeps me in better shape. I'm a Medi-Fart that still does 3.5 miles a game in the middle, 2.7 on the line. Knees pay for it though.

I find quite interesting that you ask that, I only knew one guy in the BOQ where I was assigned who worked in a part-time job off-installation, he'd mentioned to me once that he was reqd to get prior with before doing so, I gather there was some kind of reg involved about such part-time work off-hours, off piñata platoon, I never did such stuff myself, he was just doing sales, I'd gathered, at some electronics store...I saw a thread on here a cpl of days ago, I think, about whether active duty could assist with vol fire dept stuff, I do kinda remember seeing that...I gather from what the guy I'd known in the BOQ said, as well as that thread, and other stuff I'd seen at various times, that Uncle Sam is obv Numero Uno in that regard, and, for that obv reason, anything you do off hours or off installation needs I think to be pre-cleared first, kinda regardless of what it might he, I'm not saying in right, I'm just saying it kinda makes sense to ask before doing, you know? There's that old adage about assumptions I could clearly quote, but obv won't in this circumstance, my only thought is if you want to make extra money, all to the good, so long as Uncle Sam is aware, clears it, and gives it his blessing, I'd just obv ask before doing it, that's my only thought, such as it is, I just kinda figured you might find such observations useful...not that it's a bad idea, certainly, it's just that, God forbid, some injury happens while you'd be doing such outside work without asking first, I mean, you never know what the reaction might he...I mean, who'd pay for tr hospital bills? You? Uncle Sam? Worker comp? Private insurance? Then there's the whole liability thing, since your obv el primero responsibility is to Uncle Sam, of course, you're expected to be available all the time, rain or shine, outside interests and/or distractions, potential or real, notwithstanding? Would an outside employer understand that if you got called away by your active duty work? Would they possibly complain to your installation? I !mean, there are, as I see it, a zillion possible pitfalls, now, in the case of the guy I'd known of who actually did it, as I'd said, he did definitely get that preapproved, I expressly recall him telling me that, so, I suppose all that was accounted for beforehand, I'm merely pointing out that one never knows, sometimes, what weird things might happen, if one deals wit an outside employer at the same time as Uncle Sam...I used to do volunteer stuff sometimes, charity drives bike riding for clinical charities, the thing was, all that was approved activity stuff, so, if anything had happened, it was all obv completely kosher, of course, I'm merely pointing out those things as they'd obv occurred to me to !mention...it is a good question, though, I'd expect, given the guy I knew who did it, that it can be done, so, clearly, you're not the first I've read of who's thought about it...in the case of that other thread I'd seen here about fire dept stuff, one just obv wonders, once again, God forbid there's an injury and/or accident or something, how that whole morass would be sorted out legally, in terms of insurance and/,or possible liability, so my fought is, just look and ask before you leap, that:s all I'm suggesintg, OK? I hope that was at least helpful, if nothing, else, I'd be most eager for your thoughts, as I'd said, interesting question, if nothing else, certainly, you know?

Common is usually pizza delivery driver. They tend to be flexible and appreciate having someone who can deliver on post without issues. As long as you have the approval of the chain of command and it doesn't interfere with your duties. One of my soldiers a while back would pull in 50-200 in tips a weekend depending on the usual ebb and flow of sporting events, etc.

You could look into an MLM company. Just ensure you understand and follow EO guidelines. Building a business while you are in the military also provides a great 2nd or 3rd income when you ETS or Retire. Many things go into finding a company that fits your personality and lifestyle. I like the ability to build a team and create a global company right here from the U.S.
