What are ideas on helping Veterans that are homeless?

I want to get more involved with possibly starting a Non Profit Company to help Homeless Veterans. with housing and clothes, food etc.

That sounds awesome. I think all veterans should be offered that. It's the least this country can do for those that fought to defend it.

Where are you located? Getting your non profit status is hard and takes a long time. I'm partnered with an organization that does what you're looking to do. I'm their agricultural resource for veterans interested in farming. Look them up http://www.helpingourheroesmichigan.org

Check with the VA, they are starting to build facilities to house homeless veterans. That should be a good starting point.

Here in Houston the VA has an outreach program for homeless vets. The place they live is called "The Dom". It houses about 60 homeless vets. The requirements to stay there is no drugs, no drinking. The vets are outsourced to jobs at the VA, and local businesses. They can only stay three months, then move up the ladder to another location for three months, and so on until they are able to be on their own. The whole process takes a year for each vet, before they leave. I collect clothes, socks, shoes, boots, whatever I can get until I have a truck full. I stay in touch with the Dom administrator, who was homeless himself and now works for the VA, to see if they need some clothes, etc. with the vets moving on every three months, and new vets arriving, they are always wanting donations. The last time I was there, at Christmas time, I took 200 pieces of clothing, shoes, etc. I've called, but so far they are ok on clothing. Every Christmas myself and a Marine vet, along with members of our Sunday School class, take shirts for each branch of service and have Christmas dinner with them. We also go to the VA and deliver throws to the hospitalized vets, and the vets in the psychological ward. They are always happy about that, and I tell them my story of when I was there for 6 months. They don't trust anyone, but when I tell them I am like them and have been there, they usually come over and we talk. I'm very passionate this, as you can tell with the book I just wrote. The VA Hospital in Huntington WV has homeless veteran housing. Huntington has a veteran homeless program working with the VA. I know Charlston WV, has a small VA homeless housing. There is a Church in Charlston that takes in homeless Vet's and works with VA. I know most local shelters will help Veterans and if they ID themselves they will be taken to a Veterans only shelter if they so chose. I also know most Legions, VFW's, DAV's, VVA's, will drive a Vet to a shelter. Scout's out

Get the homeless, homes. The answers are easy, the problem is in the execution.
