I would tell them that if you want to do something meaningful with your life, you have to work hard, stay up late, get up early, give your blood, sweat and tears then REPEAT. Nothing worth having is given for free or handed down to you. As for this young man that has fooled the people at Mizzou to believe that he is oppressed and that whites are privileged, he needs to face the music as he made the falsely accused school faculty. They were fired and had their lives ruined, just because some idiot wanted to play the race card. No matter what your skin color is, wrong is wrong. Grow up for one and start thinking about the real world and not the fantasy world that you envision.
If you want change so badly then do something positive to show that the change can be made.

Marching and hunger strikes for free tuition, wiping out student debt and a $15 an hour minimum wage on campus is going to do exactly what for the rest of the people who are struggling every day that don't have student debt?
These students have no idea of the big picture, they only feel for themselves and want what they want.
I would be willing to bet that most of the loudest protesters are from well to do families and have never really had to work much or have ever done hard, physical work.
We can always work to make things better but there has to be an overall plan to make things better for everyone, not just a small select group.
These kids need to study people like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and Ghandi and then they might get an idea of how to do something for the greater good.

Don't be too quick to blame these knuckleheads as they cannot take credit for this idea. The idea of College For All (CFA) has been a push for some time under the assumption that more educated people creates a better educated society and thus a more competitive society. These numbskulls are chanting rhetoric that has been preached to them from those that already "got theirs."

Unfortunately in the areas and nations that have adopted CFA it is not panning out as predicted. Scotland is a good example. Without cost and burden of repayment students are opting for courses/programs/degrees that are not marketable and thus not providing those people to contribute and become more competitive in the global marketplace.

Additionally the money would need to come from somewhere and that place would most likely be the federal government. While functional for compulsory education (K-12) I do not foresee it boding well for post-secondary education. With provided money comes more control and I am fairly certain universities/colleges do not want to be told what to teach by the government. I don't think these numbnuts are taking into consideration the potential repercussions should their request be granted.

I find it hard to sympathize with a guy whose parents are able to give him a free ride through college (especially if that net worth graphic is correct.) He's getting a free (to him) education at a large college. If he wants to go on a hunger strike due to some problem (real or imagined) more power to him. He was on the hunger strike for a week and still looked healthy. Obviously he was staying hydrated. He had another week to go before anyone needed to worry about him. People can go 2 weeks without food.

As far as the rest of the students, they're emblematic of the entitled youth we have in this country. Most of these students don't feel they have to earn their place in society (or college.) It should just be there for them. They're all winners because their parents told them so. They don't want anyone in authority disagreeing with them or have anything on campus that would damage their fragile little egos. So goodbye edgy comedians and guest speakers who don't have the correct PC leanings. They think of the campus as their home instead of as the institution of higher learning where they're supposed to learn the skills necessary for their future careers. The real world to them is just a TV show.

This generation is bad enough. I'm almost scared to see the next one coming up. Y'know, the ones who have even more of the "you're perfect" mantra in their heads, who - if they play sports at all or even go out to play - play baseball games where no score is kept and all the teams get the same participation trophy (and God knows they haven't played dodgeball - some schools won't even let them play tag) and because of no tolerance policies at school have no experience with conflict resolution (and yes, sometimes that means standing up to bullies. It sets the course for your life through school and into the real world.)

Now as bad as I'm coming down on college students nowadays, not all are worthless. I'll bet that you don't have the same entitled attitude from students who are paying their own way, working to stay in college. You won't hear this mess from ex-soldiers who are in college on their GI Bill benefits. You most likely won't get - as much - of this sense of entitlement from student athletes who are in college due to their strength and skills playing a sport. At least they're in college due to their own efforts instead of their parent's money.

The student loans are due and payable, they signed what all people know as "contracts" to repay. $15 minimum wage, when instituted in Washington State caused hundreds of struggling small businesses to close their doors or websites. This child has no hold on reality, he is strengthened only by his peers at Mizzou that surround him and they hold the same unfounded ideals. Want free? Go home to Mommy and Daddy. But I'll bet THEY sent him to Mizzou to learn about real, adult life and, to get him off their payroll.

I would advise them to Confirm, Confirm, Confirm, EVERTHING that people are stating as facts. This is the short simple answer.

Now I will give you the long but more accurate answer that requires some action and thought.

In today's fast paced digital age there really is no reason why anyone should not have a picture or a recording of an incident they are claiming took place. That being said I understand that there are times when comments are made and it happens so fast no one has time to video or tape it but a lot of what is being said could be backed up with some sort of evidence. Everyone is quick to record a police officer so why are the not just as quick to record situations of social discord.
I have seen several recordings of people asking questions that there is no answer that would please them. Look all I am saying is anyone can find a problem and point it out what we need is more people coming up with solutions that are reasonable. I am truely worried about the direction our country and its younger people are headed in right now.
I completely disagree with there being a problem with racial injustice in this country as a whole what I do think the real problem is is that the authority figures in our country are abusing people of lower income brackets. Think about it every social or institutional problem we face today requires money to get any kind of meaningful resolution. By that I mean if you are sick you need money to see a doctor if you have a legal issue you need money for a lawyer if you are unhappy with the public education system you need money for a private school.
Those that have money often times forget how often their financial status has solved their problems. Those who are poor are constantly reminded how much money plays a role in finding a solution to their problems. I am speaking about my personal experiences I was doing very well while I served in the military simply because a lot of the actions that require money in the civilian world are free to a soldier because of the way the system is set up. You can solve problems with just a few phone calls litureally. Where as in the civilian world you have to contact a lawyer or a school district administrator or you might even have to call the police. A lot of times when you contact any of these agencies they will be more then happy to inform you of their legal obligations (which is not much) and what you have to do to get a resolution to your problem which 99.99 percent of the time requires not only money but time time that you have to take off of work with out pay. Sorry this is so long but this really is a complicated question and their are no good short answers.

Here are some truths someone should have told them a long time ago. Life is tough, if you don't realize this then you are making life even that much more tough for someone else...probably someone you love and very close to you. NOTHING worth anything is free. No one owes you anything, no one.

Work hard, get a scholarship, take AP courses, go to community colleges, something YOU CAN AFFORD. I would tell them much more then is possible in this space. Sure, evil, injustice and pain exists. People do smart things, dumb things and selfish things all the time. It does not mean that it is an organized cabal. In this country you are not guilty of the sins (real or imagined) of your ancestors, and everyone should be judged by the content of their character and their actions, nothing else.

That the world is not all sunshine and roses. Evil does exist. There are no true safe zones in life, except perhaps of for those in prision or enslaved. Character counts, you will be judged, ranked, weighted, measured, criticized, praised, loved and hated, - learn to deal with it as life is a contact sport.

There really is no such thing as a free lunch and that it is also possible that their perceptions and views may be more about them an dress about reality. By their actions they seem to have indicated that their words are for show (doubt speak), for true diversity requires inclusion. This does not mean more folks like them, and fewer people who are different from them. True diversity means ensuring everyone has a seat at the table, even those you despise!

Giving your free money for education would be throwing good money after bad. You have obviously wasted what you have spent and your degree from that institution and others who are having similar demonstrations have diminished the value of a degree from yours and those other institutions to zero. No company will want to hire you because you are obviously immature spoiled children with no idea of what life is about.

Well the link isn't working, but in general he is oppressed (albeit speaking racially, if not individually, which I think may be his point). And all things being equal, a white candidate would always be chosen before a person of color. Except maybe in choosing sides for basketball...or track.
