Some good exercises are lat pull downs, pull ups, scapula shrugs while hanging from a bar, and just practicing the grip and a pull up. I would also suggest practice walking fast with a 20 lb kettlebell in each arm for the sprint drag carry event. This way they can learn the proper techniques to perform the various exercises and reduce the chances of injuring themselves. The good ones are done by fitness trainers, often with military association.
