SSG Private RallyPoint Member53489<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As a newly promoted Sergeant, I am considereing applying for the ADO Green to Gold. I have heard from some that I must apply through Cadet Command and some say I don't have to. It only makes sense to have to apply through Cadet Command because I am currently active duty and want to get paid while I go to school. Cadet Command says I have to and while it seems I should be ok with knowing this, I have some Officers who were ROTC Instructors telling me that I do not have to, and we all know there there are many ways to accomplish most everything in the Army. However, I would like to get an idea from some of the Officers perspectives on the change, yet hearing from all ranks is a great way for me to balance this out because it is something that will set the course for the rest of my career. What advice can NCO's and Prior Enlisted Officers give to a NCO who is considering Green to Gold Active Duty Option?2014-02-08T01:10:23-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member53489<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>As a newly promoted Sergeant, I am considereing applying for the ADO Green to Gold. If you are fine with the ADO idea then I would definitely stick with it. Of course you came to the right place for answers.<div><br></div><div>I was amazed with how many commands got G2G yearly slots and they went unclaimed year after year. Being a senior NCO I always receive the email when we get closer to the deadline - XX slots available to Fort/Post and only 25% currently used. IT makes you wonder if a lot of Soldiers are getting the information or even being talked to about these awesome options.</div><div><br></div><div>Congrats for making the division to better yourself - best of luck!</div>Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 8 at 2014 1:19 AM2014-02-08T01:19:50-05:002014-02-08T01:19:50-05:001SG Private RallyPoint Member53594<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This option is a very good option and one I considered at one time. I would highly recommend using this option if you are selected for it. You can't beat getting paid while getting your degree.Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 8 at 2014 8:59 AM2014-02-08T08:59:08-05:002014-02-08T08:59:08-05:00Cadet SSG Private RallyPoint Member53632<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SGT Hargett,<div><br></div><div>Just last year I was in the same position you are in, a newly promoted SGT interested in applying for a Green to Gold Scholarship. The disappointing part for me was there wasn't a whole lot of information for me to go off of. A soldier from another unit informed my of the CG Hip Pocket Scholarship Program. I'm not sure what the policy is in Korea, but at Ft. Riley I needed to send a packet (ERB, Awards, DA Photo, Physical, and Recommendation Letters) to Division to have it reviewed by the CG. Once he approved it and formally awarded me the scholarship, my Division Retention sent the packet to CDT CMD to be reviewed and they have final say on if you are accepted as a cadet or not. Hopefully this helps you a little bit, but know that there are many options out there if you're serious about getting it done. Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions about the process, I'll do the best I can to help you out.</div>Response by Cadet SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 8 at 2014 10:36 AM2014-02-08T10:36:57-05:002014-02-08T10:36:57-05:002014-02-08T01:10:23-05:00
