I am a junior NCO and felt little effects of your post above Sir. I owned my home during both administrations and to be completely honest with budgeting and financial counseling through USAA and AER have been able to actually come out ahead in lieu of the recession.

1) The Economy is Cyclic.
2) The President is NOT directly responsible for the Economy. It is impacted far more by the Congress.
3) There is "Lag" in the system.
4) The "Housing Bubble" was in effect post Cold War collapse (Clinton Era) through Gulf War 1 , and many economists identified it even at the beginning of the Bush administration. It wasn't a case of who, it was a case of "when & how bad."

No matter how you sugarcoat it, the poor and ineffectual response to the great recession, the passing of the (un)Affordable Care Act, the total breakdown of Congressional oversight of Federal Agencies precipitated by the continuing resolutions passed annually since 2008, and complete fecklessness in the Middle East have directly affected me negatively more than anything that happened during the tenure of the men in the picture.

My retirement accounts went up and down during that turbulent time and short-term interest rates fluctuated; but, I was employed throughout that period - I was mobilized after 9-11-2001 and my company welcomed me back with the salary raises accumulating while I was mobilized.
On the other hand, under the current administration work started to dry up around DC and in northern Virginia as the government expanded. Then Obamacare was implemented and my disabilities became serious enough that the company I had worked for for 20 years notified me that they were terminating my employment in line with their review of the Affordable Care Act requirements. I know at least 10 other local men in their mid-50's who lost their jobs in the past few years. Last year I lost my house and I know five other families who went through the same thing. My wife has been uninsured since Obamacare kicked in, the VA covers my medical requirements.

Capt Walter Miller Asking people to choose between republican'ts and Democons is like asking someone to pick up a shit covered stick by the clean end. Was I effected by the decisions made? Sure I was. Just like I have been effected by the decisions made under Mr. Obama. Until we get rid of this stupid two party system that thrives on "the lesser of two evils" mentality, we are going to suffer. Right now, after hearing Swillary last night, I am ready to go change from independent to Democrat so I can go vote for Bernie Sanders just to keep her from winning the nomination. I hate this about our country. Attack adds, lobbyists, greed, back room deals, all normal operating procedures in politics. We have gone from government of the people, by the people and for the people to government for sale to the highest bidder. Until we as citizens vote this out, it is just going to continue with business as usually. Right Wing and Left wing, two wings on the same ragged chicken.

Thank you for posting this propaganda here on RallyPoint so that we can discuss it rationally. Hopefully, then, members of RallyPoint won't be adversely affected by it when they encounter it in other media.

President Bush is no more responsible for the "Mega Recession" than he is responsible for the common cold. Anyone who takes the time to read the Constitution will discover that the President's powers are limited to enforcing laws passed by Congress. Executive Orders are merely the methods a President uses to implement those laws. The President cannot spend one cent that is not authorized by Congress. Thus, if you want to discuss economic matters, look to Congress.

Even Congress is not responsible for the national economy. The budgets they enact affect taxation and government spending only. Of course, these can adversely affect the nation's economy when wildly out of balance and, thus, are not the sole factors in determining the course of the national economy.

In the modern world, national economies are interdependent. Thus, economic cycles ripple around the world. Fortunately, the United States weathered the "mega-recession" better than most because its economy is structurally sounder than most. However, that is changing. Efforts by popular ideologues to socialize the American economy are weakening it and we'll soon suffer along with the other socialist economies such as those found principally in Europe.

Now, in response to the original question, yes I was affected by the mega-recession. It caught me at a vulnerable point in my life, on the verge of retirement. It forced me into retirement early and my financial planning for retirement was thrown into a cocked hat. I also caught a cold that year. I blame neither on President Bush or any other President.

Wow! Talk about trolling... What if I was affected by the Internet Bubble burst of the Clinton Admin no one talks about? What about the lack of action taken to capture of kill terrorists which in turn executed 9/11?

Or move on to this admin... Libya, Iraq, Syria, the lack luster economy which is just sitting on a cliff waiting to collapse. Or how about the manner In which the current admin dealt with the real estate collapse where people who should not have even attempted to buy the houses out of their reach came out unscathed while those of us who were responsible lost more money?

So tell me, who's your realistic candidate who's going to make things great?
