I'd like to think I was. All my guys who stayed in (that was most) either were commissioned or made Chief.

As a Squad Leader, I got down on my hands and knees, and scrubbed the latrine floor; with my Squad members.

I am most definitely a hands on leader. Being a role model is subjective, though I try to be.

Definitely a hands on leader. I want my team to be sustained at the level I trained and able to fill in when I am out. By that, this makes you the Role Model for those to follow.

I was often hands on as it was expected for me to be such. I took a Finance Detachment to the field and my soldiers viewed me with amusement that I grabbed a shovel and helped to dig the fighting positions. I was glad I could teach them small arms tactics that made sense.
