Plenty of natural fuel and food availble, easily accessible from my current location, not a lot of people. Plus zombies will have a tough time walking through snow and sub zero temps. Response by SSG Carlos Madden made Feb 6 at 2018 5:17 PM 2018-02-06T17:17:58-05:00 2018-02-06T17:17:58-05:00 Cpl Justin Goolsby 3329629

For starters, I would go to a military installation. You've got perimeter fences and choke points to maintain defensive positions. Considering military communities, you know a good portion of them would be armed.

Next, you need scavenge locations. The nearby Walmart is obviously a prime target. It also has a defensible overwatch position across the street if you work well with others.

The primary goal would be to move quick and silently. The last thing you want is noise to attract a group and have them swarming you. So I'd probably work in groups of 3-4, so we can have 1 provide exterior overwatch, 1 provide interior cover, and 2 scavenge/gatherers for needed supplies.

I would probably arm myself with something silent like a bow for both hunting and long range kills. I would also arm myself with some form of a melee weapon in case the zombies are able to get close. It has to be light enough to be carried easily, but also not small enough to give the zombies a closer target.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also on a slightly related note, if anyone is interested in putting survival mechanics to the test, there's a game called This War of Mine which puts you in the shoes of a group of civilians trying to survive a war torn city. It's a surprisingly deep game. I have enough supplies and a well to last for a while. I would only move if I had to. The first weeks will be the most hectic and the most dangerous, in my opinion. Initial confusion and human emotion will amplify the zombie threat. Then, I guess, it is time to go hunting.

After a while, I would dig a hole. I would then put something in the hole to make noise. I would check on the hole every now and then and burn the contents of the hole. Hopefully, they won't be able to get out because then we would have fire zombies, and yeah, that would be my bad guys.

If I get bit, I am grabbing a bottle of scotch and walking off in to the woods with a gun. If Romero was right, I got three days before the infection kills me.
