We all know that the US used Propaganda Flyers in Vietnam, but how many of you ever saw one?

There were many different types of Propaganda Flyers that were used in Vietnam but this is an actual Propaganda Flyer that I picked up while we were on patrol, a Search and Destroy Mission, inside of North Vietnam in August of 1969. This particular Mission was called "Pink Panther". I do have the interpretation if anyone is interested?

Sgt David G Duchesneau - Sergeant; The suggestion to have them printed with an ink that contained chemicals which caused an itching skin rash if exposed to fecal material was (in my opinion, unfortunately) disapproved.

I still think that the psychological effect of the VC political officers demonstrating their contempt for America and then spending a couple of weeks scratching their ass at every opportunity would have been worth it. Especially if the leaflets had been over-printed with "DO NOT WIPE YOUR ASS WITH AMERICA" in bold letters.

The one I look back on and Laugh at was Listening to Radio Moscow while I was at NSGD Adak, AK and the time they wished us a Merry Christmas with Our Classified Call Sign. Also remember listening to them Mocking the President or Previous President at the time for Being a Drunk and falling down the Stairs of Air Force One. Just as Entertaining was the Crap put out by Voice of America (Our Own Propaganda) What a Load of HorseS**t they would Broadcast.

With an O&I background, you can imagine when we encountered a NVA Psy-ops mission in the Tuy Hoa Valley targeting certain troops that was so affective, it shut down operations until there could be some adjustments. The whole affair was quashed as a classified incident. Too PC to let out of the bag. Our unit was never the same in regards to that Psy-ops attack. I had to give it to the NVA, they were good. Scoat

Saw plenty of the Chieu Hoi (free pass for surrendering) slips laying around I Corps and II Corps. Never did see one in the hands of one of the bad guys either dead or alive.

As an aside, late in my third tour we got a directive to stop referring to the dinks as dinks, gooks or any thing other than NVA or VC. Out in the woods they were still dinks until we had a dead one to ID as NVA or VC. Later at Bragg the word came down that legs would no longer be referred to as legs. PC in its infancy.

I saw many chieu hoi flyers around TUY HOA circa 1966 but also remember psy ops using the sound of crying babies from speakers on choppers late at night very eerie to say the least!
