Awards get entered in your record which gets reviewed by the O-4 board. Any reviewing officer will do a head shake if there's two for the same thing. Or maybe whoever enters the record puts the lesser one in and you're walking around with the higher one in your photo. I could do Achievements and Commendations back in my time. Don't recall ever double tapping anyone. If you're zoning soon, it's better to have the Comm with a previous track record of Ach's along with an "upper third" report. Discrepancies in records tells a reviewing officer one thing. The SM didn't check to see if the record was correct.Response by CAPT Kevin B. made Feb 21 at 2019 9:13 PM2019-02-21T21:13:57-05:002019-02-21T21:13:57-05:00LTC John Mohor4389659<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Look at the dates of electronic approval. Also look to see if one was posssibly an Interim award. If that’s still confusing get with S-1 of current unit for help. I also recommend the first approved award by the approval authority should be considered award unless you can deconflict. If you can’t you better off not wearing either award until it’s rectified!Response by LTC John Mohor made Feb 21 at 2019 11:34 PM2019-02-21T23:34:24-05:002019-02-21T23:34:24-05:00MAJ Christopher Thompson4389806<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Not to sound overly simplistic, but did you receive an impact award and an end of tour of award? Rarely are interim awards given on deployments unless impacts. On one of my combat deployments my BDE S-1 made a serious error when sending awards forward and inputted the same order number for end of tour awards, after I had received an impact for the same level of award. I had to point out the correction as this was a numerical clerical error, and the award (among others) where heading to the Commanding General G1. Also, there can be order number mistakes if you received things like unit citations and NATO awards, so it is best to take a close look at ANY awards from this period to make sure these match as they should overall. Do it NOW, as it gets harder after you rotate back to the states to get these mistakes fixed, because generally the staff dissipates to the four winds onto their next assignment quickly. If this has already happened, sit down with your new BN S-1 and go through your records together. You definitely do not want award duplicate order numbers in your file.Response by MAJ Christopher Thompson made Feb 22 at 2019 1:58 AM2019-02-22T01:58:15-05:002019-02-22T01:58:15-05:00CSM Richard StCyr4391208<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Yes, someone has screwed up refer to; AR 600-8-22 Awards, and the AR for Preparing and managing correspondence of which I can't remember the number.<br />The whole reason for having orders numbers and the protocol for assigning them are to prevent duplication and fraudulence in awards.<br /><br />It is possible to receive multiple awards during a deployment such as one for overall service and then Impact awards for specific missions or acts of heroism.
